I am an Online Business Manager. I serve minority & female entrepreneurs creating systems and processes to create an elevated client experience. I am also multi passionate and provide Virtual Event Management & Facebook Ad Management & Strategy

What did you do before you started your own business?

I worked as a Process Control Operator at a Refinery. Went to trade school for boiler operation and became a 3rd Steam Engineer

Share 3-4 fun facts about you that people don't know

  1. Married for 12 years.

  2. (1) 8month old daughter named Lyric. Favorite Color is Green.

  3. Big sister to (1) little brother who is almost 10 years younger than me.

What made you finally start your own business?

I have been unhappy with my job because of several passed up promotions to people with less time and qualifications. Physically the job was taking a toll on my body and the swing shift schedule got old. I stayed for so long simply because the money was good. out of 12 years I made 6 six figures 10 of those years. I was dying for a change but was nervous to start over. I became pregnant and knew there was no way I was going back. I knew the last 12 years I could be miserable working there and trying to raise my daughter. I have never seen myself having my own business. I was fine with a steady paycheck, great insurance, sick time, and 3 week vacation time. I wanted something that I could have true flexibility in my schedule and never miss an important event again.

What was the FIRST step you took to launch your business?

I purchased The Virtual Savvy System at the end of July. I worked that system piece by piece and I literally ended up with 3 clients by October. Paid off course investment within 3 months. End of Jan I Purchased a OBM Certification course. Some people may say I am bossy but I felt very aligned with the OBM role and I knew it would be my route to getting my 6 figures back. Baby needs some Nikes lol. jk. By June I paid off my OBM course investment. The systems I started with right away were Honeybook, Trello, Google Workspace, Calendly, Canva, Built my website on GoDaddy. In March I did intern work with VAB and that was a lot of fun, and then in May I hired a business coach to get clarity. I am an operations girl, systems, processes, quality control are all my things. So putting systems in place was a no brainer for me.

What were some challenges you faced in your business?

I started this business when I was 6 months pregnant. I am a hard worker and always have been. So balancing my new role as a mother just 2-3 months into starting this and having clients was interesting. I also experienced postpartum illness, covid wreaked havoc on my family and my grandmother was a victim, my father-in-law died suddenly 3 weeks after I gave birth, being new in the online space mindset creeps up. I literally have been overwhelmed since April 2020 and some of that has tried to trickle into my business.

How was the transition from (employee) to (boss)? Was it hard to adjust to your WFH, mom or boss life?

Yes, because I tend to overwork. So I have been focused on my time and being clear with boundaries. I love the WFH life or laptop life. If you worked at the sch. I worked before you would never go back! I love the freedom and happy I am not missing any major milestones

What is your favorite productivity tool or hack? Work when the baby sleeps or away! or Outsource- whether that be asking for practical help from hubby, babysitting, order groceries, door dash, etc. Also get some blue blockers right away! save those eyeballs.

What do you think is the biggest challenge most business owners face?

Clarity on direction. As an entrepreneur, how do you help women in general when it comes to getting their life and/or business in order? (answer based on the type of work you do) I am all about presenting in a professional way and not making things harder than they need to be. I have learned so much about what is possible. It doesn't take as much as some people think. So I am committed to helping women be the best boss they can be. Whether that's through my breakout sessions, obm services, virtual event services (2nd Virtual Pop-Up Coming in November) The time is now for more female business owners to shine!

What is the big vision for your business?

I want to offer a program or course for minority business owners to set the right systems in place to be successful and create an elevated client experience. I would love to transition to consulting or mentoring. Just maybe a small agency connected to my facebook ad management and strategy. I have been told I could be an "influencer" whatever that means. I would like to make my story into a brand some how some way. I have a podcast I am started called Postpartum Expression

What do you do when you're not working? How do you like to relax?

A Drink, Spa Bath, Music. At this point relaxing = NO Computer in my face!
