7 Social Media Marketing Mistakes Virtual Assistants Need to Avoid

You're "marketing" yourself on social media all day with the little knowledge you have on marketing and it’s frustrating not to know what to say to get your ideal clients to book a sales call so you can seal the deal, let alone know which systems and tools to use to automate your sales process.
Here are the 7 Common Marketing Mistakes Virtual Assistants Make and Need to Avoid:
1) Fail to automate as much as possible
Don't skip this! The client experience begins where the contact first engages with your company. More then likely your potential leads and clients will find you first on social media (and then maybe through a Google search). Be sure to set your lead generation form on your website, automate your sales process with a sales funnel and don't forget to automate and personalize your client experience on social media as well.
Take action: Create a social media content strategy and schedule your social media posts at the best times your audience is online.
2) Fail to outline the tempting benefits of their services.
You're listing all the wonderful features but failing to explain the benefits, results or transformation your target audience will receive once they start working with you. Share the top 3 benefits of working with you. What makes you stand out from your competitors? What are you going to deliver that the competition is not?

3) Fail to utilize any trending hashtags
Choosing hashtags that are between 10,000 to 100,000 can help you get found in the social media search feeds.
4) Offer discounts and coupons attract non-ideal clients.
As a service provider, we highly recommend sticking to your price or raise them! You do not need to discount your services ever - especially not during a major sales season such as Black Friday. The cost is the cost! If anything, this is the time to increase your rates.
5) Failure to create a buzz or FOMO around your offers
If no one's talking about it, chance are no one knows about it and likely won't be buying it. Tag some key people in your social media post, have them tag a few friends and follows and create a buzz about your business. People talking about your business without you having to pay them to do it is free advertising, and it's called "word of mouth" marketing. Tell your mama... and she will tell her friends... and her friends will tell their friends... you see where we're going with this? It will likely create FOMO (fear of missing out).
6) Failure to follow up with past potential clients.
That lead that signed up to your email list or booked a consultation but didn't hire you at the time, might need your services now. Their situation may have changed since you last spoke and they may be in need of your help. Give them a follow up call or send an email. If they don't need help, it doesn't hurt to request a referral.
7) Failure to conduct test runs for your marketing strategies
Don't just built it and pray it works out. Make sure your systems are ready to go, your links are working, fix any bugs, etc. before you launch. There is nothing worst than having people interested in what you have to offer but can't get access to it soon after they book, make a payment and hire you!
